A large retail client (300 locations: 175 domestic/125 international) was experiencing lack of control and cost savings in their mobility environment (4 carriers/multiple representatives/variety of plans) and had no back up to their MPLS network. They desired more control (one point of contact) and cost savings with their overall mobility spend and a solution to their back-up requirement. They had explored a secondary MPLS network, broadband, and DSL solutions. They found these alternatives either cost prohibitive or not universally scalable.
The Solution: A wireless WAN with auto fail-over capabilities, deployed and proactively monitored by Mobility Help Desk. Two pools were created (one domestic, one international) for optimal cost containment. MHD was also engaged to life cycle manage mobility environment. Handling all MACD work, carrier escalations, device procurement, plan/pooling modifications and consolidated bill paying (client now pays ONE bill to us, and we pay the carriers).
The Results: Reductions in mobility spend year to year of 23%. Business Continuity has been realized for the retail locations at a FRACTION of the cost of other alternatives explored.
